Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education.
The Molecular Cytology Core Facility (MCCF) identifies and masters technologies for detection and analysis of molecules in their natural environment (in cells, tissues, organs, embryos and tumors). The facility stays abreast of new technological developments and continues to expand and enhance the research capabilities. Our staff provides consultation, training and technical assistance in the execution of the technologies.
In this position, you will assist multiple users by:
- Performing manual and automated experiments using such techniques as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and RNA in situ hybridization; optimizing existing protocols; troubleshooting technical problems, including interfacing with vendors regarding equipment/reagents malfunctions.
- You will also coordinate histology operations and oversee staff activities; evaluates daily results and train lab staff and users; oversee tissue processing sequence to ensure high quality results.
- Perform literature searches to establish new technologies for in situ molecular detection.
- Help maintain and update the laboratory`s website.
REQUIREMENTS:
MS degree and 5 years, or more, of laboratory research experience in the fields of molecular biology and embryology or PhD with relevant experience. Candidates must have experience in embryo isolation and preparation for molecular in situ detection and microscopy. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential in this position.
Days: Monday to Friday Hours: 9AM to 5PM
