Large Investment Bank require an experienced Unix Support Specialist * Systems Administrator to provide Infrastructure support to all business areas in London and third level escalation support to the Europe*Middle East*Africa region. The role will involve supporting Production & Development SUN Solaris & Red Hat Linux and associated infrastructure on SUN Enterprise and HP*IBM hardware. Basic hardware troubleshooting, Solaris Server Support and Administration are key job functions and so is the backup and monitoring of the servers. Problem management and reporting. An additional role is to provide third line support to the desktop support groups for workstation escalation issues. The role has a requirement for shift work, on-call and weekend working. Essential: Three years corporate unix experience, +3 years Solaris 5.6, 8 & 9 & Linux, Good hardware knowledge - Sun Enterprise, Sun Fire range, E10K, Compaq*HP DL range & Compaq*HP Blade, Shell Scripting knowledge – Bourne, C & Perl. Understanding of TCP*IP Networking including DNS*DHCP and NIS. Demonstrate a solid understanding of IT principles and concepts. Previous banking experience. Desirable: Exposure to EMC*SAN Storage. Exposure to Legato & TSM Backup. Exposure to Omnibus, Remedy & BMC Patrol. Exposure to a Global Firm.
